‘Urdu Social Poetry Noshi Gilani’ is a wonderful social poetry collection. I personally liked Noshi Giani’s Urdu Poetry for her convincing social aspects. How beautifully is her depiction of Pakistani society and social norms. However, her primary focus remains on basic human instincts. She seems to remind us of a conscience, dead for most humans while dormant for others. How beautifully she criticizes the silence of her people against injustice and oppression:
سارا شہر ھی تاریکی پر یوں خاموش رھا تو
کون چراغ جلانے کے پیدا آثار کرے گا
ٰ
She has an inborn genuine feeling for the human suffering. Particularly what society does to us generally is, it kills us under its pressure. Society forces us to form and reform according its norms whether good or bad. Edward Bond in the play “The Sea”, has presented as similar scenario where the struggling individuals are fighting against the bourgeois society. This struggle continues for ages.
You will definitely become a fan of the poetess once you read her poetry collection. Buy her books and enjoy further readings because we have quite a few selected verses here.
