Urdu Sad Poetry of Wasi Shah from Modern Pakistani Poetry. This collection of poetry is about sadness caused by amorous causes and general social relationships. Syed Wasi Shah, a relatively younger poet, has been much celebrated in Pakistan, India and other Urdu speaking populations across the world. I personally fell in love with his poetry when someone gifted me his beautiful book titled: “Mujhe Sandal kar do”.
Though I must appreciate and praise the versatile poet, Syed Wasi Sah, yet I cannot rank him among the greats of Urdu poetry like Ghalib, Iqbal, Sahir Ludhyanvi, Saghar Siddiqui, Faiz Ahmed Faiz and the list is long. The only difference I perceive is that those poets of yore preceded from higher thematic aspects. Wasi Shah, on the other hand, remains much more involved in the momentary and sensual feelings of the emotions. But still, his poetry is lovely. I admire him a lot.
