‘Meda ishq wi tu mera yar wi tu meda deen wi tu’ is a ‘kafi’, poem,by Khawaja Fareed known as Baba Fareed. The mystic appeal in the poem is evident by the contents and themes inherent in the poem. The poem begins with a lover, here with religious zeal, is trying to prevail upon his love. He utters: “you are my love, you are my friend and even you are my religion engulfing my universe of and life”.
The poet goes on to declare that his love has penetrated into his heart, his body and life. The poet tells us that he is lost in the thoughts, contemplation, love, passions and emotions of his love. Either his prayers or complaints are all about his love. The poet concludes with the words that the accomplishment of love turns one into a king and a sultan of the empire of love and the world itself.
